New Brands & What to Expect for Spring 14

Your sneak peek into some of the newest brands hitting the floor at The Tannery, and what’s in store for them in the future.

Founded by classmates Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston, they share a common vision that has led them to become a formidable force on the Australian fashion scene, as well as the US.

Best known for their its innovative takes on the classic party dress, they also feature a refined collection of chic separates in fresh and vibrant color palettes.

It was during their show at 2012’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week where Bec & Bridge showcased their ‘Paradiso Bianco’ collection, that truly grabbed the attention of some of the Fashion World’s most respected editors and bloggers.

Watch out for easy wearing silks in neutral colors, and lots of white for SS14. You will also see hints of metallic combined with sheer and washed out watercolor patterns and pops of bordeaux.

Some of our favorite looks from the Bec & Bridge Resort 13 line currently available in or stores!

Founded in 2011 in New York by Scandinavian designer Johan Lindeberg. After working with brands such as Diesel, William Rast and his own J.Lindeberg, he once again went out on his own and created BLK DNM.

With a European design esthetic, and inspiration from the style and culture of New York City mixed with a little 90’s grunge, BLK DNM has a truly unique look.

Best known for its fitted jeans and lambskin motorcycle jackets, the brand refuses to follow seasonal fashion and remains focused on staple wardrobe pieces.

For this spring BLK DNM focuses on pairing black and white in bold graphic patterns on  everything from jackets to leather pants and tshirts. Also featured are well tailored vests and suit jackets, and an overall looser fit across the board for denim.

Using the direct inspiration of the melting pot that is Brooklyn, New York, Brooklyn We Go Hard (BWGH) a Parisan based label, started out by creating print t-shirts and have since expanded it’s offering to include sweatshirts and shirts.

The ready-to-wear brand’s objective is to provide support to young talents whose work deserves to be known. BWGH stays connected to the culture by working with a collective of young photographers, using organized cultural events and the establishment of a biannual magazine. BWGH’s collection is made to be worn by an open and passionate generation.

For the upcoming season BWGH switches up their color palate and focuses on soft blue hues, natural whites and golden yellows. The collection boasts a nod to summers past with vintage inspired t- shirt graphics, specifically placed stripes, and retro floral patterns.

Isaora is an advanced sportswear brand launched in 2009 by Marc Daniels and Ricky Hendry.

The company is founded based on the belief that technology has the power to improve our lives and that we should demand more from our clothes. Combining performance and a focus on the paradox between simplicity and complexity are at the heart of the design philosophy of the brand.

Each item is a statement of innovation, quality and research and stays true to the essential and modern aesthetic of the brand. For Isaora each customer is a global citizen with a taste for adventure.

For SS14 expect to see a range of shorts, sweatpants and jackets in lightweight technical materials in staple colors such as grey, white, black and navy. With a focus on layered looks, all pieces are meant to work well together or stand alone as separates.

Launched in February 2012 by Anthony Thomas Melillo, ATM began as the perfect t-shirt line, and has since evolved into a full lifestyle collection of luxurious casualwear for men and women.

Using the finest fabrics from natural modal, to French terry and cashmere, the collection embodies a relaxed elegant lifestyle. The ultra-cool line launched exclusively with Barneys (all doors) in its first year and has expanded to over forty of the most exclusive specialty stores, across the globe.

Designer Melillo . says “It’s important to have those little extras that make it feel personal,” such as the ATM logo printed on the arm of every tee. Manufactured in Peru, the line now features sweaters, sweatshirts and pants; dresses; as well as basic and novelty tees all in their array of luxe fabrics.

This spring’s collection showcases a range of relaxed long-line pants and skirts, paired with cozy tees in materials ranging from nubby cotton to open mesh weaves. Being a basics line, the color palate remains neutral in shades of grey, black and white with pops of neon yellow.

FRAME was founded in 2012 by Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson, the two London based Swedes behind The Saturday Group, the global fashion business and INDUSTRIE magazine.

The duo set out to create the perfect pair of jeans, by bringing together the quality and heritage of denim manufacturing in Los Angeles, with the influence of a London style, cut and fit.

From design, to wash houses and cut & sew, the best people in their field have all come together to make an unrivaled product in quality and price within Frame Denim.

Frame’s look for Spring/Summer 14 includes light washed denim shorts and jeans, with unexpected details such as patch-working and tuxedo stripes, as well as classic vintage washes.

Fall into Denim

What goes together more perfectly then denim and fall weather? Here at The Tannery we are denim-o-philes and are always on the look out for the perfect fit, wash and details for our denim buys. We like to make sure our denim collection goes above and beyond the norm with a style that reaches everyone in our broad spectrum of our customers. With help from our denim specialists we put together the four must have washes for the season.

From Citizens of Humanity, the Low Rise Skinny in Moonshadow, is already a best seller amongst Bostonians. The perfect not-quite-black not-quite-indigo, shade of dusty grey-blue and distressed wash pairs perfectly with any top you can imagine. The soft, stretchy denim makes for an extremely comfortable fit that we bet youll find yourself reaching for over and over again.

Stuck in a black and blue denim rut? A new alternative that can easily be incorporated into your fall wardrobe is military green. While still semi neutral, the shade can really pack some punch when swapped in for your old standbys. AG Jeans does it perfectly with their Dark Olive hued denim. We love how easily this color pairs with black, blue, leather…..anything you can think of really!

Burgundy, Bordeaux, Wine, whatever you want to call it, we find ourselves being drawn more and more to this shade for fall. Lucky for us JBrand has added Pinot to their collection. Needless to say we are loving this new color and all of the autumnal looks we create it.

An old standby, Rag and Bone’s Heritage Wash is the epitome of a classic dark denim wash. Being the perfect shade of indigo, this wash continues to be a favorite of ours and only looks better with age.
